In today’s challenging job market, many candidates are willing to accept any position that offers a steady paycheck. But saying, “I’ll take anything,” in an application letter or a resume is a big mistake. That’s because healthcare organizations, like any employer, want to hire someone who’s a good match for a specific opening.
That means you should narrow your job search to a specific type of position, employer or geographic area. If you are a nurse, for instance, it’s a good idea to decide whether you prefer to work in an acute care setting, physician’s office, long-term care facility or some other healthcare environment. You may like the learning opportunities available in hospital with ties to an academic institution, or enjoy building relationships with elderly or disabled patients in long-term residential facility.
After considering your individual goals, personality and experiences, you can focus your job search on organizations that meet those criteria, rather than every potential employer in the area. That’s more efficient use of your time and an approach that’s more likely to pay off.
One of the other advantages of narrowing your search is that you can customize your application and resume for specific types of positions. Plus, having a clear understanding of your objective puts you in an ideal position to “ace” the interview process. After all, the recruiter will be looking for candidates who truly want the position, and being able to explain why you’re the right person puts you ahead of the game.
All Medical Personnel can help you focus your healthcare job search, offer flexible staffing opportunities, and open the door to permanent positions. Just contact our professional recruiting team today. 1.800.706.2378
